Hey everyone!
Thanks for visiting this page and taking time to consider supporting me financially while I prepare to go abroad this winter.
I recently discovered a need to get up and get out of my normal routine for a few reasons, but primarily because I've realized that my academic goals and motivations have drastically changed since before the pandemic. I used to thrive in a classroom setting and found a lot of joy just learning for learning's sake. However, these days, where I spent my first year of college learning from my dorm room and education has been boiled down to Zoom calls, I've felt the pull to get out of a traditional learning environment to shake things up and leanr from the world around me. I am so excited to embark on TWO study abroad opportunities this winter as I plan my travels to Costa Rica for a week, and then a mere five days later depart for a six week camping/backpacking excursion in Chile to study Patagonia ecosystems as a part of my Environmental Studies degree at Seattle University.
While both of these programs are organized by different entities, I felt compelled to group them together in my fundraising adventure since they are so closely linked topically. I will be exploring the sustainability, conservation, and preservation efforts in both locations as well as connecting directly with the remote communities set in such incredible environments. I look at these two adventures as a glimpse into my future career as an environmentalist and I am so excited to see the influence of being outside of the classroom and country on the rest of my life.
