My name is John Tinsley. I am currently studying plant science with a focus in global food insecurity and health at Virginia Tech. Working to help with global food insecurity is my life passion. Global food insecurity seems to be rising year after year. One of the biggest problems will be trying to feed the world growing population while simultaneously finding a way do it sustainably. I think this project in Saint Mary, Jamaica will be able to teach me a lot of valuable skills in this field. While there I will be able to apply those skills to helping communities in Jamaica and other communitities after. I think that this trip will be a great way for me to get started in the field of global food security.
