My Travel Story

by: Jordyn Wright Start Date: Sep 5, 2017 - End Date: Oct 14, 2017
Hello everyone!

My name is Jordyn Wright and I am a 23-year-old Hospitality Management student at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Recently I have been applying for internships all over town, the United States, and even internationally so that I can fill the requirement UNLV asks for to graduate.

For years I have been turned down due to my class schedule and this time around was no different. Until my dream internship in Cusco, Peru called and said YOU'RE HIRED. I just about had a heart attack. They are extremely flexible with both my work and school schedule and we mapped out a time that I would be able to come down for my internship and still meet the requirements of UNLV.

I will be in Peru for five weeks and am leaving the last week of May 2018. I will return the first week of July 2018. I will either be working at a boutique hotels, hostel, or a tour company in Cusco. I have not been given my official assignment yet, but will update you as soon as I find out.

Now comes the hard part. Finances. To attend this internship abroad, it's going to cost roughly $5,000.
$3,500 of this goes to the internship company. This is for my lodging, Spanish classes, 2 meals a day, uniforms, transportation, and international insurance. Which is nice since I won't have to find a place to live or worry about where I'm going, everything is taken care of for me before I even arrive. Flights have been fluctuating between $780 and $1050 since I started tracking them, and I calculated $500 for my 3rd meal for each day for the 37-day trip.

I would appreciate any help I can get, even if it's a dollar or a donation of an item you think I could have use for or even sell. I will be holding garage sales and will be at the City of Henderson Craft Fair's every so often to reach my goal.

If something magical happens such as I receive a scholarship or we go past the goal of $5,000. I will be donating the funds to a relief for Hurricane Harvey and possibly Hurricane Irma if it causes any damage (praying it doesn't).

Again, thank you for the support and even reading this all the way through!!!!
