Greetings everyone. My name is Daniella Desalegn .I'm the first ever Ethiopian transgender woman to come out publicly and join the LGBTQIA+ movement in East Africa. Additionally I'm a model and a beauty pageant contestant.I'm also the co-founder of "Qelemat"-an organization based in UK,which advocates Ethiopian and ertrian LGBTQIA+ community. My activism focuses on raising awareness about the challenges of being transgender, intersex, and queer in Ethiopia. it is extremely important for me to raise awareness about the poor human rights history of Ethiopia and Eritrea especially that of my queer community.i would love to use this opportunity to meet various international human right groups, activists, and international organization like the UN to share my experience of being transgender woman in my country.i would also love to meet various policy makers from AU,EU and lobby for more diplomatic pressure to be put on Ethiopia and Eritrea to respect the rights of queer community and include us in the national healthcare system. As the first-ever openly came out Ethiopian transgender woman activist and member of the Ethiopian LGBTQIA+community, millions of voiceless Ethiopians trust in me to speak, lobby and fight on their behalf.I'm aware of the responsiblity that is put on my shoulders and i am happy to speak in public and attend meetings and workshops. I am very comfortable speaking in public regardless of the place and time as long as it is for the benefit of my LGBTQIA+ community. I am willing to do anything to change the heartbreaking situation my community is living in. This undoubtedly will bring negatives consequences such as rejection and condemnation. However, what matters at this time is the lives of millions of LGBTQI+ Ethiopians and what my activism will bring to the future. I am determined to fight for the rights of the oppressed therefore a negative backlash is not something that can deter me.i believe attending those important stages will give me and my community visibility on an international level. That means international bodies, policymakers, other human right defenders will have the chance to understand the suffering of my queer communities.i kindly request your support on my journey to east african countries educational conferences and meetings in order to create awareness..thank you for your support in advance
