My Travel Story

Coming from a low-income community, the majority of the ethinicity is hispanic. My purpose for taking on this opportunity to shadow a doctor in Argentina is to help my community. Because my community is mostly hispanic, I see how they struggle to communicate with the doctors because they have a hard time understanding what the doctors are saying. Doing this program in spanish will help me communicate with my community and any other community who goes through the same dilemma. Even though I speak both english and spanish and do not struggle like my community, I know the difficulty it is to communicate with someone of another language such as mandarin, vietnamese, arabic, etc. If I am having a hard time communicating with people of another language, I cannot imagine how much more important and confusing it is for people who only speak and understand spanish. Though I am only focusing on people who speak spanish than other languages, I am attempting to make a difference in one region of the languages spoken worldwide. Because I plan to specialize as an oncologist in the future, this program will help set me apart from other candidates because I will be able to better communicate with my patients in both spanish and english especially in a community like mine. I would really appreciate any donation for it will be very helpful and get me one step closer to my goal.
