My Travel Story

This is about one of my students, not about me. Some of my students (not going to lie, not all of them, just some) inspire me every day to do my best because they do their best and more! I am a Social Studies teacher who  will be taking for the second time a group of 30 ESOL Middle Schoolers to New York City where they will see first-hand how New York was built by immigrants and became such an amazing and diverse city. This will be an inspirational trip. Most of my students just got to the US and all their families are immigrants. They are making an extreme sacrifice to fund this trip, because they understand that the children will play a key part in building a better tomorrow. The one in the picture is Atziri who would like to join her classmates. She is a stellar student that helps all the new ones to get used to our system, helping with content and how to use the computers.She overcame many obstacles in life but always with a smile in her face. She totally deserves to go!     This is a life changing experience for all these children that have NEVER been in a big metropolis, or been on a PLANE or visit this amazing museums Met and the Museum of Natural History. This is the group we took last year!! We hope we can take more and more and change lives! Atziri cannot miss this opportunity, she is such an outstanding young lady!
