My Travel Story

by: Ekaterina Shirbroun Start Date: Dec 5, 2017 - End Date: Apr 3, 2018
Motivation for why I am conducting my EDGE project this way:
Becoming a teacher (and librarian) requires not only learning from the books, but working and talking with teachers who have worked in school systems for years. This is important, because every teacher has a different teaching style and sometimes you just need to put yourself out there and talk to experienced professionals. Going further than that sometimes talking to someone outside of the country may provide interesting insights that you might not recieve in the States.

What the project is:
I want to go to London for this reason, during my trip there I am planning on interviewing numerous Primary school librarians in order to compare and contrast differences in advocacy, how the libraries are set up, and much more. With your help I will be able to gain new insight in the career I plan to go into, which is an elementary school librarian. This project will not only help with my insight of my profession but it is my EDGE project, an experiential learning project that my college has each student work towards something in their major. The study abroad trip will be May 9th through the 19th.
