My Travel Story

This past year has been one of the most challenging in my life. Losing our mom in July 2023 has left a space in our family that can never be filled, and I’ve often thought about how she would have been there for each of us in those life-changing moments we will face.

For me, one of those moments is just around the corner. My sister, who I helped move into her new home before our world changed, is now about to bring new life into the world—her first child. And though I’m stationed overseas, far from home, all I want is to be by her side when she becomes a mother. Since our mom can’t be there, I feel it’s even more important for me to be.

I’ve decided to keep my plans to visit a surprise, and although I won’t be sharing any pictures to respect her privacy, I know this will be a deeply meaningful experience for both of us. She may not know I’m coming yet, but I’ll be there for her, just as she needs someone in this monumental moment in her life.
