My Travel Story

For the first time in history my local high school opened up their study abroad summer program to Junior High students. I am one of only three chosen for such an amazing experience. 

My love for history and geography prompted me to apply but the more I read about the destinations and historical sites we will be seeing the more I knew I had  to go.

My great grandfather and great uncles served our country during the war. My parents are both veterans and for me this opportunity will hold a special place in my heart to know that I will stand on the very beach (Omaha) where my great uncle landed so many years ago.

I hope to bring my knowledge and experience back to the classroom but also to the community. I am a Boy Scout and plan to research WWII veterans that have been buried near my home town that may have been part of the Normandy invasions and bring back sands from the beaches for a memorial service.

I have been working extremely hard trying to raise money locally, but am still a long way off from the funds needed to take part in this opportunity.
