My Story With Volunteering

At the outset, I would like to introduce myself to you. I am Ali Bashtawy from Jordan. I graduated last year from the university with a specialization in renewable energy engineering. Before university, I had merged with more than one national volunteer project, which gave me a set of leadership skills and motivation towards volunteering, at that time my life was It is limited to secondary school, so my participation in volunteering was during the semester holidays,
As soon as I entered the university, I stopped any volunteer service for five years, due to my studies, which required me to follow up and effort. Therefore, staying away from volunteering was the right choice in order to focus on a specific topic and not be distracted.

How will this affect my education or career?

As I mentioned earlier, my participation in volunteering was limited to the secondary stage, due to the seasonal holidays, which were an outlet for me to participate in, but now I have completed my university education and I really want to integrate into volunteering and return to the life I used to.

Why am I excited about this project?

I will not hide from you, that for years, in my local participation in volunteering, I had hoped to experience volunteering abroad and get out of the narrow circle or as it is called the circle of comfort, so my enthusiasm is divided into two parts: first, general enthusiasm about volunteering abroad, and special enthusiasm related to the volunteer project that I intend to participate in. It is on the island of Iceland.

Why did I choose this destination?

My choice to volunteer in Iceland is due to the type of activity that I will participate in related to the protection of the environment from global warming factors entitled "One earth, our home - Let's prevent global warming", and what attracted me the most to this project is its connection to the specialization I was studying at university related to renewable and sustainable energy.

What makes this useful for me?

No one disagrees that volunteer projects are one of the factors that contribute to enriching the human soul, enhancing human thought and developing individual skills. Therefore, my participation in this volunteering is a matter of human openness and increasing the level of self-reliance. Therefore, I affirm that my choice of Iceland was the best option In order to travel far and experience adventures that I am sure will be of great benefit to me
