Hello! My name is Tamia Moye, and on May 16, 2026, I will graduate from the boarding school Alabama School of Math and Science. I plan to major in International Relations at Samford University. I have always had a deep passion for understanding cultures, governments, and global issues beyond the United States, which is why I aspire to become an international attorney. I am particularly interested in how law can be used to address global inequality, human rights, and cross-border cooperation. This passion has led me to pursue opportunities that allow me to engage directly with the world around me. This summer, I plan to travel to Brazil for three weeks to participate in a community development volunteer program. I chose Brazil for many reasons, but the most significant is its unique position as a rapidly developing nation that faces complex social, economic, and legal challenges. Brazil’s history, cultural diversity, and ongoing efforts to address issues such as poverty, access to education, and community infrastructure closely align with my academic and career interests. By volunteering in Brazil, I hope to gain firsthand experience working with communities affected by systemic inequality while developing a deeper understanding of how local and international organizations collaborate to create meaningful change. This experience will not only strengthen my cultural awareness and global perspective, but it will also help prepare me for a future career in international law, where empathy, adaptability, and global understanding are essential.
