My Travel Story

My dad (69 this year) called yesterday, he asked me if I would take the few weeks I have off and go with him on a road trip. He said, “just the two of us”, let’s call it the “last hurrah”. He mentioned that he has “always wanted to see Old Faithful and Yellowstone”.

COVID and the Pandemic took a serious toll on my mental health. Ultimately, in March my health forced me to take some FMLA.

After Dad's call, I did some serious reflection and I know I have to try to make this happen. For my dad because I’ll never forgive myself if I don’t and I miss him so freaking much. But also for me. 3 years of life at oil field speeds, less than that many visits 1,200 miles back home to see my soul mate of a dad and all of 2020.

I feel like God blesses us after our biggest storms. Maybe my time off, although unpaid and heavy, was his way of giving me exactly what I really needed. Idk, but I'm hoping so...
