My Travel Story

Hi Everyone, 
     My name is Kara and my fiance is Chris. Our travels may differ a bit in that we are not planning on traveling abroad just yet. We desperately want to see each of the 50 United States and experience the beauty and nature of them all. I have suffered from severe depression and anxiety since early childhood and I have taken many medications and even had ECT treatments but was still struggling severely. I also was in 3 serious car accidents between the ages of 14 and 20 which caused back and neck injuries which led to me having issues with chronic pain. I have to take medicine for my depression and anxiety but I personally believe the best medicine is found in nature and spirituality which for me go hand in hand. I applied for disability almost 3 years ago but haven't yet been approved and Chris works harder than 2 people to make sure our bills are paid. He is 58 years old and works full time at a tree service. We live near Orlando Florida and the summers are brutal for him but he has never once complained. He is honestly the most humble man I have ever known. When Chris was young he definitely made some poor choices and he takes full responsibility for them. He, at 18 years old was sent to prison and ended up serving 33.5 years. I know some people won't be able to see past that but I can tell you in complete and total honesty that I have never met anyone with stronger character or more integrity. We have been together for 4 years and we hope to be married next year. Chris's main focus is talking to young people, especially young men and boys to hopefully help them avoid the path he took. When we are traveling we are going to find anywhere we can to reach out to the people there and be of whatever help we can. I have volunteered a lot at homeless outreaches because I also have been in that situation so I will continue to help wherever I go and Chris will also. We have both been extremely blessed and although we have our struggles we are extremely grateful to God for each other and the life we share. We appreciate any help we may receive and we will certainly be sharing our trip with everyone should we be able to raise enough money to go. It will absolutely be a dream come true for each of us!
