My Travel Story

My name is Kayla Giles. I am 19 years old, and I am making big plans but I desperately need your help. This spring, I hope to embark on an incredible journey that will change my life forever. Florence, Italy is a beautiful, artistic and inspirational place. I have always been drawn to Italy and I hope to experience for myself all that it has to offer.

One of the most compelling aspects of Italy is its theatrical history. Being that I am majoring in Theatre Education, it would be such an honor for me to visit one of the first places in the world theatre was used. Being able to experience all of that rich history would benefit me greatly in my career.

I have never left the country before, but I have always had a curiosity about different cultures. Something about Italian culture feels very warm and loving. In learning about the differences between Italy and Columbus, Georgia I feel that there is so much to experience and learn. I hope to bring all that I have gathered from this trip home with me. I will be inspired, and ready to share my experiences with my community.

I feel that often in life, I let my fears get the better of me. I have always been a very cautious person, and I'm afraid that because of that I have missed out on some truly incredible things. I really need a way to get out of my comfort zone and take some risks. I know that the journey to get to this trip will be long and hard, but I truly feel that this is experience is what I need in my life right now.
