My Travel Story

When I was 15, I was chosen for the Rotary Youth Exchange and spent a year living in Brasil. Part of that year took me deep into the Amazon on a five-night boat expedition. We traveled by canoe through the flooded forest, slept in hammocks, and learned survival skills from locals.

The moment that stuck with me most was visiting a small Indigenous community. We helped plant trees and played games with the children. They lived with so little, yet had such strong connections with each other and the forest. It made me realize how much happiness comes from people and community, not possessions.

I also remember sitting on the edge of a canoe during an alligator-spotting night, under a sky full of stars. It was quiet except for the sounds of the jungle. In that silence I understood how small I am compared to the world, but also how much even small actions-like planting a tree or giving a child attention-can matter.

Now I want to carry those lessons forward to Cusco, Peru, where I will be volunteering in schools and childcare centers. Your donation will help me cover program fees and travel so I can focus fully on giving back.
