Kat's Study Abroad Trip - May 2025
My Travel Story
Below is an excerpt from the program description if you're interested in learning more about what I will be learning and experiencing during this trip.
BERLIN
As Germany’s capital and its largest city, Berlin provides a unique location to examine the political development and activities of the Third Reich. Divided from Western democracy until its wall came down in 1989, Berlin is now a thriving, artistic and welcoming city. Visits here will include the Reichstag, the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, the Jewish Museum Berlin and the Sachsenhausen concentration camp. Students will also have the opportunity to take a food and culture tour to explore this vibrant city.
AMSTERDAM
As the capital of the Netherlands, Amsterdam offers an immersive experience into the history of the Holocaust and the story of Anne Frank. This vibrant city is the location of the Anne Frank House, where Anne Frank and her family hid during World War II, providing an intimate look into their lives and the horrors of the Holocaust. Key sites include the Dutch Resistance Museum and the Hollandsche Schouwburg, a former theater turned Holocaust memorial. Alongside these historical visits, travelers can enjoy Amsterdam's rich cultural offerings, picturesque canals, and lively atmosphere.
