My Travel Story

by: Serenity Gonzales Start Date: Sep 22, 2023 - End Date: Jun 7, 2024

Hi there!

My name is Serenity and I'm an 8th grader in Middle School in California. I have an amazing opportunity this year to go on a school trip to the East Coast to visit Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. with my classmates! I'm so excited to visit historic sites and cultural attractions on the East Coast.

Our trip starts in Boston where we'll walk the Freedom Trail and learn about the American Revolution. Seeing sites like the Old North Church and Faneuil Hall will make that history come alive! Next we'll head to New York City. I can't wait to take the ferry out to Ellis Island and learn about the immigrant experience at the Tenement Museum. Visiting the Statue of Liberty up close will make me proud to be an American. And of course, seeing a big Broadway musical is a dream come true! The lights and energy of Times Square will be unforgettable.

Then it's on to Philadelphia to see the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence was signed. I'll feel like a real patriot in the place where our country was founded. We'll also tour Amish Country to learn about their culture and simple way of life.

Our last stop is Washington D.C. I'm excited to spend several days exploring the monuments and Smithsonian museums. Touring the White House and Capitol Building will make government come alive. And seeing the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution at the National Archives will give me chills. This trip is packed with so much learning!

Being able to experience these historic sites and cultural attractions firsthand will really bring my textbooks to life. Walking the Freedom Trail in Boston, seeing a Broadway musical, touring Independence Hall - these are memories I'll cherish forever. And sharing this adventure with my friends will bond us together before high school. We'll have inside jokes for years!

The only problem is the cost. Between transportation, hotels, and admission fees, this trip really adds up. My mom can't cover it all. So I'm asking for donations to make this educational experience possible. Even small gifts will get me one step closer to the trip of a lifetime!

This journey will shape me as a person and impact my perspective. I'll return home with a suitcase full of stories and souvenirs. And most importantly, new knowledge and appreciation for American history and culture. Please consider contributing to send this eager student on the East Coast adventure of a lifetime! Let me know if you have any other questions!

I would love to say thank you to each donor by sending a postcard from your favorite city that I'll be in so please email my mom at evalee.torres@gmail.com with your address so I can send you a personal thank you for helping me!
