My Travel Story

My wife and I have been living out of our van for almost a year now and things have been going downhill rapidly. My wife's mother passed away a few months ago and it's been really hard on her mentally. We traveled to Delaware to see her oldest Child for Christmas and made it back to West Virginia before the van went through a series of mechanical issues. When it got below freezing the freeze plugs blew and it took the rest of our savings to replace. We decided to stay here in WV to work and save money to head back home to Texas. A couple weeks after freeze plugs blew, the alternator gave out and we were stuck in her work parking lot until we had enough money to get it replaced. Luckily the didn't mind us being there. Now the thermostat went out and I tried to replace myself, but now we have other major coolant issues and it won't stop overheating. Again we are stuck in her work lot but this time it's been awkward and embarrassing. I haven't been able to find employment because of transportation and not a lot of job opportunities here. We desperately need a mobile mechanic and that's going to be costly. And to top it off, my son that I haven't seen in 6 years joined the Air force and is now living in San Antonio! I keep telling him we are trying to get home and I'm coming straight there to see him but everything keeps going wrong! I just want to get back to Texas and see my son! He was a teenager the last I saw him and now he is and Adult! I hate asking for help but this is my last resort. My wife and I are both feeling stuck and tensions have been high. It's been taking a toll on both of us and we just need some good luck and the ability to see a light through this storm that won't dissipate. Thank you for your time and help.
