My Travel Story

Hello to all :)

My name is Lamiesse Mekdaschi and I am beginning my journey to Cape Town, South Africa this year, 2021! I recently decided to follow my dream of traveling to Africa to work within the community and learn about the rich culture of the country. I will be engaging with community members as a social work intern with VACorps. Although I am still waiting on finding out my exact role as an intern, I am hoping to work with children in the local orphanage.

I have always loved working with the next generations of the world, and after my family adopted 6 children from the foster care system, I have gained a deep love for providing love and support to children who don't have the comfort of a home and a family. I truly feel honored to be given this opportunity to learn about the South African culture and learn from its people and land while making lasting memories. 

I am incredibly excited to embark on this adventure and would appreciate your help on making this dream a reality! I am funding this trip on my own and as a recent college graduate with mountains of debt, truly anything helps. Thank you for your time and kindness.
