My senior year of high school, I embarked on a journey. This journey has taught me so much about the world and about myself. Dance has become one of the most important things in my life. Though I started to dance later in life than many others, my passion is no less real. It has not always been easy, but the joy that I have been given and the joy that I can give is unmistakable and one of the best feelings I know. This summer, I would love to share my love for dance with Costa Rican youth. I have never been out of the country and I would love my first time doing so to be a volunteer trip teaching dance, just a combination of some of my favorite things. I feel this is an incredible opportunity and will teach me so much more about the path that is destined for me. I do not think it will be easy, though I do believe it will be one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I understand the struggle of not having the arts available to you and the idea that there is no way out of situations and circumstances that we did not choose. This is one of the main reasons I chose this program. I want to give hope to the hopeless and to prove that there is beauty in the world and there is beauty in ourselves.
