My Travel Story

I am stoked at the opportunity of traveling abroad to learn, be immersed, and assimilate to new cultures. I had the opportunity of attending a Global Fellowship Study Abroad info session where I learned that 2% of African Americans account for the percentage of students that experience a study abroad education. The problem is that African-Americans are not presented with these opportunities and are gravely underrepresented. When I became aware of the UNO-Innsbruck International Summer School, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to gain an enriched cultural experience that will enhance my cultural competency. I am thrilled to learn about the education system in Innsbruck and hope to gain an experience that will prepare me for life after UNO as I explore graduate-level education. Moreover, this opportunity will enable and challenge me to go beyond my comfort zone. I will try new cuisines, engage in didactic discourse with scholars from Austria, and expand my academic portfolio. I will be able to share my experiences with others in hopes to increase the number of African Americans to study-abroad.
