My Travel Story

My husband and I have two sons, ages 18 and 8. We were a happy family of three when a relative asked us to take in her child as she was suffering from addiction. We took him in at 13mos and adopted him about a year later. Due to the environment and genetics he was born into, he has difficulties. He is on the autism spectrum and has severe ADHD which has gotten significantly worse this past year. Our older son has developed pretty significant depression and anxiety in the last few years as well. Both take medications and have various therapies. This last year has been our toughest yet. Why am I telling this to strangers online? It was not my first thought to do this. My husband and I both work very hard at our full time jobs. We are not poor. We are middle class like everyone else. We don't usually ask for help like this. Our house, which used to be our respite, has become a dungeon. Our kids, whom we love very much, and their difficulties have taken a significant toll on us in this last year. We need to get away, recharge, regroup and come back to our lives refreshed. We don't want to take a loan or use credit cards to go on a tropical vacation.  We know it's not a necessity. We just need a break. My thinking was that maybe someone would have it in their hearts to donate to real people with real problems rather than a company or corporation.Thank you for taking the time to read this.
