My Travel Story
I believe that true change starts with service. This volunteer trip to Africa is more than a journey—it’s an opportunity to grow, give back, and build bridges across cultures.
As a community advocate and youth mentor, this experience will deepen my understanding of global challenges and enhance my ability to develop programs that empower young people. The skills I acquire—cross-cultural communication, leadership, and problem-solving—will directly support my long-term goal of establishing a youth career center in Bessemer.
By volunteering abroad, I’ll bring back fresh ideas and proven strategies to share with my community. Whether it’s promoting STEM education, encouraging youth empowerment, or fostering teamwork through sports, I’ll use this experience to inspire and uplift others at home.
I’ve always believed in the power of mentorship and service. Traveling to Africa allows me to live out that passion—working alongside local communities, learning from their resilience, and contributing to projects that create lasting impact.
Africa represents both a rich cultural heritage and urgent needs. I chose this destination because it offers the chance to support communities while learning lessons of perseverance and hope that I can carry back to my own city.
