MY ONLY SON IS SERVING IN AIR FORCE IN ALASKA! HELP REUNITE!
My Travel Story
My name is Amanda Cobin, and Im a proud mother of a U.S. Air Force service member currently stationed in Alaska. My son, my only child, my pride and joy, has been serving in the Air Force in Alaska for nearly three years. He left home the same month he graduated high school, and I haven't been able to see him since mostly due to traveling costs on both ends. As a mother, the distance has been incredibly hard, and I long to hug him, see his smile, hear his voice, and spend time together. My young boy has grown into a strong, dedicated young man - but I've only witnessd his transformation from afar so Im long overdue.
When my son left for the Air Force, I wasn't just saying goodbye to my child - I was stepping into a new and unfamiliar chapter of my life. What no one tells you - what no one truly prepares you for - is the quiet that follows. I had spent so many years caring, worrying, planning, and loving him through everystage of life. Then, SUDDENLY, the house fell silent. I became an empty nester the moment he walked away with his bags, and the weight of that moment hit me harder than I ever imagined. The hardest part of beingof being a parent, I've come to realize, isn't the sleepless nights when they are young - it's the stillness after they're grown. That ache of missing him, the pride mixed with longing - it's something I carry every day. This trip means a chance to reconnect, to reprogram his voice back into my head - a sound I miss more than I ever expected and its the one I long for the most. Spending time with him now means a great deal to me - it's a chance to hold on a little tighter and fill my cup, enough to carry that feeling of him being near once again.
Unfortunately, the cost of travel to Alaska is beyond my reach. Im asking for your kindness and support to help make this reunion possible. Every donation, big or small, brings me one step closer to seeing my son and creating memories we've missed out on for so long. I would love to get the chance to see the life he has built and the friends he has made on his own - all without his mother's approval or presence for the first time. If I don't get the chance to see him during this final year he's stationed in Alaska, it may be several years before we're able to be together again, as his next assignment will take him to Korea. Spending time with him now means a great deal to me, it means I would get to hold on a little tighter. Please help in bringing us closer to a long - overdue hug.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking the time to read my story and consider supporting this deeply meaningful journey. Whether you're able to contribute financially or simply share words of encouragement, every gesture is appreciated more than you know. If you're familiar with Alaska and have suggestions for must-see places, scenic spots, or local hidden gems and restaurants to try while I'm visiting, I would be so grateful for your advice. Your kindness and support will help create memories that will carry both me and my son through the distance ahead. Anything BIG or SMALL means more than words can ever express. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me get one step closer to my son. And God Bless ❤️
