My Travel Story

by: Amber Boudah Start Date: Sep 22, 2023 - End Date: Jan 21, 2024
We are Nomad Medical Services, a family practice/urgent care office in New Hope, Alabama. We are a small office of only 3 employees.  Elizabeth Perkins Hayes is the owner and provider, Amber Boudah is the office manager/nurse, and Emily Mclendon is the receptionist. Liz and Amber met many years ago and have always shared a love for helping people (and animals) in need. Liz started Nomad Medical Services as a telehealth and homebound practice in July 2022, and it has now grown into a brick and mortar practice that opened in December of 2022. We have seen that our mission of helping the community seek affordable medical care has become a reality.  We gratefully serve an underserved, rural community and also see patients who are unable to leave their home in our homebound program. We have also partnered with several other services in Madison county to help patients find the services they need such as transportation and home health care. We also work with the council on aging (Tarcog) to help elderly patients stay out of the nursing home and get on Medicaid.

For anyone who is familiar with Amber and Liz, it isn't a secret that they love to travel and go on adventures. So when the opportunity to go to Africa on a Medical Mission with Kenya relief presented itself, they both jumped in without hesitation. From February 28, 2024 to March 10, 2024 we will travel to the Migori region of Kenya to then deploy to smaller villages and orphanages that rarely receive medical care. We have no idea what will come into the clinics while we are there and try to prepare for everything, thus raising money for travel costs and supplies is critical for this ministry.

The website for the organization we are traveling with is included below. We will be a part of Team 15 which is the general medical outreach group.  Kenya Relief is a great program who visits Kenya multiple times a year and sends different groups of specialized medical care and infrastructure teams each time.

Thank you for considering to donate to our fundraiser,
