Hello,
My name is Isabella Meador. I am starting this funding campaign because I was given the amazing opportunity to go to South Korea in May 2020 to aid my Korean professor in conducting research on a collabrative reference textbook for second language learners of Korean. This opportunity will help propel my career in education by giving me valuable experience in reserach, practical data collection in the field, and textbook writing. As I am going as a volunteer under my professor to help assist in leading the first ever department lead Korea trip for Univeristy of Texas at San Antonio, I will not be receiving a salary and all the expenses will be coming out of pocket. However, I do not want to let that prevent me from pursuing this amazing opportunity because I am passionate about Korea and the Korean Language and developing practical methods of learning the language. As someone who has used all sorts of methods to study Korean, I understand that for English speakers, asian language can be very challenging. Learning styles vary by individual, but new innovative ways are needed to help learners retain learned information. This opportunity gives me the chance to develop such methods along side an expert in the Korean language. Please help me make this opportunity possible to help expand my practical educational opportunites and career goals.
