My Travel Story

I am Watsala Erandathi Herath. I am a Sri Lankan woman. I am 39 years old. Currently I have been working for two years and 7 months in a coffee machine manufacturing company in Romania. I am the only child in the family. After my high school education, I worked in several jobs. But that salary was not enough to support the family as well as for the medical treatment of the elderly parents. So I came to Romania for a job in December 2021. But after about a year, my parents in Sri Lanka faced minor illnesses from time to time due to being left alone. So I came to Romania and at the end of a year I took a month's leave and went to Sri Lanka. I spent my vacation with my parents and came back to work.                                              

A lot of money is also spent on air tickets to go to Sri Lanka once a year. I believe it is better to spend that money for the betterment and happiness of the parents than for travel. And they have never visited any other country outside of Sri Lanka. Finally, I intended to bring my parents to Romania and prepare an environment where they can spend their future happily. My parents were also very happy with that idea. I took this decision because I am the only child in the family and they have no other support.            

Accordingly, I first asked my company about the possibility of bringing the parents from Sri Lanka to Romania. But they informed me that they can only help by giving a work permit. Although I was very grateful to my company for that, it was not a successful answer. The reason is that my parents are old and cannot come to this country to work. Accordingly, as my next step, they suggested bringing my parents to Romania through a Family Reunification Visa (D/VF). So, I obtained the necessary details from the Romanian Immigration and Embassy website. I consulted a lawyer about the documents to be prepared and the money to be spent for it. Accordingly, I think it will cost between 10,000-15,000 euros. This amount also includes a rented house in my name, two of their health insurances and nine months of my bank deposits. This money is very much compared to my salary. But I don't have a big bank deposit either. But it is my dream as well as theirs to spend the rest of their lives with me.                 

So I am well aware of the many requests for assistance coming your way. Thank you for considering my request. Your kindness and generosity will give light to me and my family to live together. Every euro brings me one step closer to a better life with them. It's also the last time my parents hope to experience more than me.
