My Travel Story

by: Shantel Da Costa Start Date: Jan 16, 2018 - End Date: May 15, 2018
After my Habitats for Humanity trip in 2016 I found a love for building and helping those who might not have the ability or resources needed in their lives. It was a turning point in my life that made me vow to volunteer overseas as often as financially possible in my life. The Galápagos has always been on my bucket list and in doing a quick google search for volunteering with animals I found a campaign that would mean I could fulfill a dream and fulfill my spirit at the same time.
The beauty of this project is I get to not only help wildlife, I also get to help in the community with rebuilding playgrounds and painting schools and many experiences within the community. I cannot wait to immerse myself in a new community and learn all I can about the people of Ecuador.
I always feel at my happiest when I am bringing happiness to others and what better way than volunteering in a community in whatever ways I am needed for the 3 weeks I will be there.
I am putting $2595 towards this trip myself as well as saving for the next 5 months. At this stage in my life it is of the biggest importance to put my money where my mouth is and help those in need.

  • Spanish Is Easy, Right?

    Spanish is easy, right?
I’ve been studiously learning Spanish for my trip. I can’t say it’s going fabulous, but I am learning and that’s what counts isn’t it?
I have even changed my phone language to Spanish to try help learn it more that way as well.

I received the cute package in the photo from a global as the beginning sign that I am on my way.
    I am pretty excited !
