My Travel Story

by: Lydia Arce Start Date: May 11, 2019 - End Date: Aug 8, 2019
Hello and thank you for visiting my FundMyTravel page!

I am asking for your help in funding the UC Berkeley Global Internship Program I will be attending in Dublin, Ireland this Summer 2019 (June 13th-August 14th). I’ve decided to create this page after not receiving the financial aid needed to fund my trip. Donations will go directly to paying for my tuition and program fees.

As a transfer and re-entry student at University of California, Santa Cruz majoring in Intensive Psychology (with a 3.9 GPA), I have been given a rare opportunity to participate in an international internship. I will be interning with ENABLE, a research program created through Ireland's top research centers working towards connecting communities with smart urban environments through the Internet of Things (IoT).

This opportunity will provide me with a great opportunity to explore my career interests (i.e., Industrial-Organizational Psychology and Behavior/People analytics) while earning the last of the academic credits needed to graduate (which I will do once I return).

Applying to study abroad was a huge step for me and a very difficult decision. Due to financial barriers, I have had very limited opportunities to travel outside the country or pursue educational interests outside of the classroom. Even though I am eligible for financial aid, I take out the maximum amount of loans offered and work to pay for my education and living expenses.

Your help in attending the UC Berkeley Global Internship Program in Dublin would not only greatly benefit me in finally finishing my academic degree while in an enriching and historic country, but also provide for me a great opportunity in getting real-life experience in a job and industry I intend to pursue after college.

Please feel free to contact me if you would like more information about my trip, what exactly the funds will go towards, or to inquire about my recent life endeavors! Thank you for your time.

Cheers,
Lydia Arce
