My Travel Story

“Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.”
-Muhammad Ali

Volunteering has always been near and dear to my heart. It allows me to impact the lives of others positively. It helps broaden my experiences, raise my sensitivity, and enables me to better understand the differences and similarities among people, economically and culturally.

One rarely has an opportunity to take a break from work, refresh and reinvest in a life of purpose. I’m blessed with such an opportunity through a month-long sabbatical this summer.

Throughout my career, I've worked closely with philanthropic and service-oriented nonprofit organizations helping them advance their missions and achieve their goals. I've donated my time, talents, and treasure to hands-on service projects and nonprofit board service to improve children's healthcare, reduce food insecurity and address mental health disparities.

This August 2023, I will embark on a new, inspiring opportunity - a volunteer service project in Tanzania, Africa. This construction and renovation project will enable me to fulfill my passion for service while working alongside local community members to improve access to education by building, or upgrading schools, clinics, community centers, and bathroom facilities—making them safer, healthier and more functional. As a volunteer, I will also have the exciting opportunity to participate in a teaching program where I will lead a class of students or help local teachers with various school subjects.

Making this trip to Tanzania fulfills a lifelong dream to do what I can personally and financially to make a small difference in the lives of a few African children. What makes this more special is that I get to do it in August, on my birthday, with my son Mathieu!

As you can imagine, service projects like this require commensurate support to deliver impact. That’s why I hope to count on your help. I aim to raise $4,500 to cover program fees as well as the cost of construction materials and educational tools for the projects. Your donation will directly impact the lives of the children and community members I will work with. Whether it’s paint, cement or sand for renovation and construction or books, pencils or crayons for the teaching program, your generosity will help to cover costs associated with each program.

If you are interested in learning more or contributing, please watch the videos above. Every dollar counts and your support means the world to me! I believe together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Thanks for your consideration.
