My Travel Story

Hi Everyone!

I found love in an odd place called Carlisle, Cumbria.  I was walking home from work, it was raining and I saw a coffee shop.  Through the window I saw a girl who had an amazing smile.  I walked in asked for a coffee, complimented her shoes, her glasses (they were nice) and she then thought I was gay... not the first time this has happened and probably not the last.  We started seeing each other and got pretty serious but then she moved to the US to study.  We were apart for a year but stayed together through FaceTime #thanksapple and then she moved to London with me and Brittany and I got engaged in September 2018.  There’s a video of our engagement on Instagram tv @hudsymusic.

I’m now going to move to the US to be with her and we’re getting married there.  This is amazing, exciting and wait!  Scary as all hell lol!  I won’t be able to work for a bit till my permits come through, the visa is crazy and did you know that they charge for flowers at weddings!?  Wtf!  Why can’t we pick them from the neighbours lawn!?

Brittany has calmed me down, apparently it’ll be ok but I could still use some help if you don’t mind :) The move IS expensive, the visa WAS expensive and dandelions, though I think are beautiful, Brit has explained to me that they are not appropriate for our nuptuals.  

But... I don’t like getting something for nothing so here’s my idea.

I've been busking on the street and I started a thing where if someone puts in 10 pounds or more I’ll write a song on the spot for them.  So I’m taking this idea online through this campaign!  If you send me 10 pounds I’ll write a short song on the spot for you and post it as a video.  If you put 20 pounds in, I’ll spend a few minutes and write some lyrics before starting :) 50 pounds I’ll write the full song and record a bare bones acoustic version and send you the mp3.  100 and I’ll spend an hour on it and do my very best to send you an awesome track!  The idea of this is create as many songs for people as I can as a fun fundraiser for this big, exciting (but kinda scary) life change.  I hope you like this idea!

    UPDATE
    I'm IN the USA :) I'm living in Evansville, IN and since getting here I've played an open mic set in Nashville at Douglas Corner Cafe'. The guy who runs it played for the Charlie Daniels Band and the bartender's uncle wrote "Dixieland Delight"... really cool. I've met some other amazing musicians here who've been extremely helpful in getting settled in. I've played a gig at a bar in Evansville's Rooftop Food and Drinks and was received well and I've got another two gigs lined up. One at Honey + Moon Coffee Co. and another set at Rooftop. I'm writing songs and trying to teach privately. I had my first student today and it was great. People are extremely nice and the food is amazing. The food however is not helping my slenderness so I'm trying to learn different ways to keep the fat kid inside me happy but keep the pounds off. He's finding it very cramped in there with all of the amazing burgers, mac and cheese, and Mexican food around here!
