My Travel Story

Hello!

Our names are Rashawn and Elizabeth and we’re partners and best friends. We’re starting this fundraiser so we can travel the world together as we explore alternative avenues to heal Elizabeth’s sight.

I (Rashawn) am 23 years old and Elizabeth is 29. Since we met each other, we’ve had dreams of visiting different countries to immerse ourselves in other cultures and ways of life. We seek to broaden our life experiences in ways that contribute to our wellbeing and give us the tools to help others improve theirs as well. We are raw vegan fruitarians and have found that living off of fruit is much easier in the tropics and desire to explore different foods as medicines. We could spend years of our lives working to save money for flights and hotels but we haven’t been making progress with our current situation, so we are opening up to additional help. Elizabeth was diagnosed with Macular Degeneration around 11 years ago and has been told that she’ll gradually lose her sight over the course of her life. Because of this, she isn’t able to work normal jobs, making it hard for the two of us to make enough money to survive while also saving to travel. Currently, we are in Kauai, Hawaii where I work at a smoothie bar and make donation-based crystal jewelry. We live in a small octagonal yurt on a fruit farm. Elizabeth strives to do what she’s been told she can’t do because of her eye condition, which includes living a life a joy in different parts of the world, showing people that visual impairment doesn’t impair the quality of life. I seek to accompany her on this journey as her partner, friend, supporter, and eyes.

This fundraiser will prove to others that conventional ways of life aren’t required to conquer our dreams. It’ll show the world that through sharing, crowd sourcing, mutual aid, love, trust, and compassion, we can do whatever we desire without committing to the soul sucking system created by our ancestors. We’ll be more capable of giving back to people we meet along the way and spreading love and kindness while we do so. 

The funds raised here will go specifically to our plane tickets, visas, lodging, and food. We plan to document our journey online to inspire others to break out of the box society places them in, and to broaden their horizons through worldly exploration and pursuit of financial and systemic freedom. 

We are capable of doing and being and experiencing more than we’ve ever imagined without limiting ourselves to the standards we are raised to abide by. We are free, we are sovereign, and we can support each other in ways that contribute to all life and expression, while minimizing unnecessary sacrifice and contribution to monopolies of the 1%. 

By supporting communal funding, you are creating a new paradigm that doesn’t rely on sacrifice and suppression of personal expression. We are creating a world of universal and unconditional love,  support, and freedom. 


By helping us make our dreams come true, you are inspiring the next generation to make the leap themselves, which will inspire countless others.
