My Travel Story

Hello everyone, 

 I hope this reaches you in good health and spirits. My name is Stephanie Blake, and I would LOVE to send my best friend Malikah Marshall, and her family on a trip to Disneyland in Anaheim, CA during this Thanksgiving break 2023 (I know it’s very last minute, but this idea just came to me). Malikah is a teacher and doesn’t make much extra money to take trips. We have been friends for over 20 years. She is the kindest person I have ever met with the biggest heart known to man. She will literally give you her last dollar, food if you’re hungry, a place to stay, or the shirt off her back. She has worked hard to get to this point in her life but still struggles financially. During our friendship, I was there for her through many miscarriages and an abusive partner. Eventually, she was able to get away from him and in 2013 she became a foster parent to many children since she couldn’t have her own biological child. In 2015, she was blessed to adopt her son, my “nephew” when he was 8 months old. She started fostering him at 3 days old, right from the hospital.  He will be 9 years old next month and is truly a blessing to her. He has given her a purpose to strive. She recently graduated from TSU here in Houston, TX with her Doctorate Degree in Education and will be walking the stage in December. I am so very proud of her! By trying to create a better life for her and her son, going to school has created additional financial strain on her. It has been a long hard road for her, and I want to show her how special she is to me and the world. She has worked so hard to make a better life for herself and her son. Her mother, who has MS and other health issues, has been living with her since 2020 when her health started rapidly declining. Recently, they found out that her mom doesn’t have much longer to live on this earth. They have been going through a stressful time and could use a break from their daily routine. Through all of that, she selflessly thinks of others and has mentioned wanting to take her son and mother to Disneyland (that’s where her parents met as teenagers) but can’t right now.

By contributing to their trip, you will give them the opportunity to relax, recharge, and create happy memories together. Your donation will cover the cost of transportation, lodging, meals, and any additional expenses associated with the trip. I, myself, am not able to do it on my own due to my own financial restraints.
