My Travel Story

I decided to study abroad because I really thought I needed a change in scenery especially thinking about how my college experience has been so far. I start college in the middle of a pandemic and barely had a smooth transition, which learning and adapting to a new school made it difficult. I decided to study abroad because I know it would be a wonderful opportunity to see myself grow more and give myself a different college experience then I have been experiencing. Now you ask why I chose South Korea as my program. I chose the semester in Sogang University because for the last couple of years, I have been super into KPOP Music (Korean Pop Music) and learning new languages. Just this past semester/year, I finished two full semester of learning ASL (American Sign Language). Which that alone was an experience. Yes, it was challenging, not to mention, my professor throughout the classes was completely 100% deaf and communicating with him, I had to learn the sign myself if I didn't know before I went to him. And yes, in the future I want and will continue my studies with ASL. Now with learning Korean, I will be opening myself to an experience of a lifetime. I know it may be a challenge at first, but who said college wasn't going to be easy or learning a new language was. Everything comes with its owe challenges. I know if I learn Korean, this will open the doors for me even more because not only do I speak already English and Spanish, and recently ASL, and soon to be taking on Korean but it will mean I'll be quadrilingual. Meaning, I can speak up to 4 languages. With me being an Elementary Education Major, the opportunity to teach and translate abroad, will be available for me to take on. 


Now you may ask why I took the time to make this page and explain above about my future because with the consideration of studying abroad, funds and costs are needed and are super essential for me to succeed. Not to mention, I am literally going across the country for this. Out there, I would be on my own exposing myself to new surroundings. Such as food, culture and more. Money can be the cause of why many can’t go. I know to get through the semester in South Korea, scholarships, financial aid, and donations will be greatly appreciated. It would help me get through the semester successfully and will give me a wonderful experience and many memories to share with others about my adventure. It could be an opportunity to see how much I could grow as person. So, any donation you give, you will help me fund my trip and for the excursions out there, I will be taking. I can’t wait for my journey to begin!!
