My Travel Story

by: Scott Wilson Start Date: Jul 23, 2019 - End Date: May 17, 2020
My wife and I met online, we lived on opposite sides of the planet. It took us almost ten years to finally meet and see if there was something to our relationship further than online. I was about to graduate and start my career, I was sure it would take off quickly and without a hitch. Fast forward to five years later...I've been desperately applying for jobs, luckily working other jobs outside my field, but only making enough to pay the bills.  We both work. She has not been able to go home to visit family since she moved to the USA to be with me.

Recently we found out her father has dementia and is in a home where he is not expected to live much longer. Apparently the same thing happened to his mother, she was fine and less than a year later had fully advanced demetia and died from a fall. I don't expect this to work but I'm trying everything I can.  Even filling out sweepstakes to win trips to Scotland. (There is a surprising amount of those online).  Since she has not been back to Scotland for over five years and I haven't been since 7 years, we would like to stay for longer than a week, but to stay longer than two weeks would be out of the question for our jobs.  So probably 10 days.

Her father worked in shipyards, one was the same that built a sister ship to the Titanic. He was in the military, then worked with offshore drilling rigs. He is a hell of a man and I would give anything to have my wife see him before he passes. I really don't have to go with but I think it would be very helpful emotionally if I was there.

If this campaign does start having donations to it I promise to upload pictures of us to the supporters and more stories will be written about how we met and other things. I honestly don't know what thresholds to set...I promise to put up a blog too for when we do travel so you can see what we are doing.  First time doing anything like this so I'm getting used to it. Open to suggestions.

I'm really at my wits end here, our car needs a ton of work, we barely make it paycheck to paycheck, and I have a very difficult time asking for help from anyone. Please help us.
