My name is Kiareliz Ramos and I have been accepted to participate in Lamar University's Deaf Culture and Deaf Education Study Abroad Program in Thailand.

This program would help me gain global experience and being able to travel the world and learn about something that is very important to me would be amazing. I would get to see how deaf education is being taught in another country, get to learn Thai Sign Language, and be able to learn another culture and immerse myself fully.

This will help me make a difference in the community because by me seeing firsthand how another country's education is being given to the deaf community, I can use that for myself when I go on after graduation to be an interpreter and be able to do my job as best as I can.

I am passionate about this project because ever since I became an American Sign Language major, I have just loved learning new things and being involved in the community and culture. It has been an amazing time and I just want to be able to learn as much as I can. This trip will leave an impact on me and make it meaningful as I get to go with a professor that I truly love and experience this with her, while just being able to go to Thailand will be something I will never forget.
