My Travel Story

by: Hannah Baldwin Start Date: Apr 20, 2021 - End Date: Aug 19, 2021
Howdy everyone! My name is Hannah Baldwin, I am currently a second year Architecture student at Texas A&M. In order to graduate I am required to complete a study away credit and I have the incredible opportunity to travel to Castiglion Fiorentino, Italy to complete this requirement. I would be spending an entire semester in this gorgeous town immersing myself in the local culture and expanding my historical understanding of Tuscan architecture and as well as ancient and foreign architecture in general. We will have the opportunity to take classes taught by locals of Castiglion Fiorentino as well as travel to other towns in the Tuscan region of Italy. This experience will greatly impact my education and understanding of how we design with intentionality in order to create new buildings that are still connected to the history of its environment as well as the cultural and physical needs of the community it will serve. I am funding this trip myself and the total estimated costs for the program are $25,555+ dollars according to the program coordinator. This includes personal expenses such as train travel and souvenirs, as well as meals not included in the program fee and I will be getting help with the tuition portion, so I am trying to fundraise for the remaining required costs of about $18,000. This opportunity means absolutely everything to me and if you have any questions about the program I’d be more than happy to talk to you about it! Anything is appreciated! :)
