My Travel Story

Hello, my name is Amber Oliver. I am a soon-to-be History and Political Science graduate at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.

Throughout my undergraduate college career, I have yearned for the opportunity to study abroad. Creating a one-of-a-kind experience, studying abroad helps to blend education with real-world observations. I have always dreamed of participating in the ability to travel to and experience a new culture in an active learning environment. Being able to apply and expand my knowledge from beyond the confines of a classroom has always appealed to me. However, due to the global pandemic and the rising cost of tuition, I feared my dream would never come true.

Yet my fears changed this semester, as I have been given the opportunity to turn my dream into a reality.

Before attending graduate school, I will be traveling to and staying in Ireland, from June 8th to July 13th. Here I will be given firsthand experience of foreign affairs and policymaking in another country. I will be observing different foreign offices within public administration and the governmental policies Ireland implements. In addition, this unique experience will provide me with a greater understanding of international relations between the United States and Ireland.

This once-in-a-lifetime educational opportunity will allow me to apply everything I have learned in college and provide me with a competitive portfolio, before entering into a graduate program.

Due to my upcoming graduation, on May 11th, financial aid will not help cover the cost of my expenses. As a result, I have been saving money and filling out scholarships to help pay for my tuition. However, I still need help to make my dream a reality.

That is why I am asking for your help and support.

I do not want this opportunity to pass me by. However, I am afraid that without your help or support, I will not be able to attend this influential educational experience. Please help me achieve my goal before it is too late.
