Please help me to save one of the most untouched areas of Europe. Transylvania has not experienced the detrimental effects of humans YET. Your contribution could save this place of beauty!


In the light of recent severe climatic events and the unheard of weather patterns  there has been a media frenzy about the potentially devastating effects of climate change and the harm human activities is causing.

As a student studying environmental biology and zoology it is quite clear to me to know that a major consequence of anthropogenic effects is the loss of biodiversity in the natural world. Deforestation, agriculture and pollution are of the course the main drivers to this but why should we care if it doesn't affect us?

Without biodiversity food webs disintegrate, leaving humans with no way to pollinate crops, no animals to eat, no natural predators of pests and a rise in diseases.

It is very easy to sit back and talk about how much you are worried for the world yet doing nothing about it.  

I am travelling to the Carpathian foothills in Transylvania to spend two weeks being a research assistant. The two weeks will be spent in different villages in the Tarnava Mare region with the first week spent on the Transylvanian Ecology course and the second week completing biodiversity surveys in the valleys around another of the remote villages.

The aim of this trip is to learn the skills of assessing biodiversity and using this information to provide sustainable solutions to agricultural pressures while also conserving the biodiversity.

It comes as a cost, as a student I am really struggling to get enough money to fund this trip. This is where you come in! I have already paid for my flights and internal travel and also half of the expedition cost, I need €700 by the end of this campaign. Any donation you could give would help greatly. It is all for the conservation and preservation of the untouched landscape of Transylvania. This could be your part in saving the world!
