My Travel Story

Hello everyone! I'm Cristopher Jiménez, a senior Biology student at the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. I have been accepted by the Eagle Hill Institute in Maine (USA) in three of their summer-fall natural history programs. Starting June 2024, I will be at the institute for three weeks to continue my training as a plant taxonomist, focusing on bryophytes (mosses, liverworts and anthocerotes) and ferns and lycophytes under the mentorship of world-class experts.

This training will be transcendental for my professional growth and will also allow me to contribute to the expansion and growth of the botanical community in my country, given the lack of specialists in these groups of plants.

Although I have obtained partial scholarships (50%) to cover my tuition through Eagle Hill and other institutions of higher education in my country, it is still not enough to cover all the flight, insurance and travel expenses during my stay at the research station in Eagle Hill.

To be able to attend the programs your support will be crucial. Thank you very much in advance for helping me to fulfill my dreams.

Frondly.

Cristopher
