My Travel Story

by: MJ Pugli Start Date: Dec 17, 2019 - End Date: Apr 14, 2020

My name is Mark,
I am 33 years old and currently live in Norway.

After long consideration and having finally found my calling, I would like to turn my life over.

I wish to dedicate my life and time to helping people in need, rather than working for my own good life.
I believe I can spend the time I would spend working for an employer, helping those who can't help themselves.

At the time of this fundraiser, it's been 3 months of extensive research of NGO's and foundations for which I can volunteer.

Currently, I am in the process of selection to become a volunteer for SOS chretiens d' orient in their Syria missions, in order to provide disaster relief, help with reconstruction, children's education and much more...

I have provided some information and links to SOS below, please feel free to visit their page, and contribute however you like/can.
It is gravely needed and appreciated

SOS: https://soschretiensdorient.fr/index.php/en/

Turning my life around from Worker to volunteer, has a significant impact on my economy, as I won't be able to work for money and volunteer at the same time.

My life expenses in Syria will be covered by SOS which provides shelter and food; at the same time, I must cover some of my expenses.

NB: Please be aware! Should I not be successful in becoming a volunteer with SOS, then all funds collected will be donated to SOS in its entirety. (SOS is aware of this fundraiser).

I seek funding for my first, 60 days mission to Syria, and this as following:

- Travel expenses - Syria is a difficult country to get in and out of;
borders can be open, or close depending on the security situation;
I might have to change routes and/or methods of transport whilst traveling to our from Syria on short notice, or I might have to evacuate an area quickly due to violence flaring up again.
I cannot at this time provide detailed information on travel routes due to security concerns, however, travel expenses are the biggest part of this fundraising.
(15000 NOK)

- Visa expenses - I will require a VISA for 2 or more countries during my travel to and from Syria. (2000 NOK)

- Medical documentation / Vaccines - Some vaccines are required due to poor sanitization and medical situation in Syria at the moment, which has contributed to the flaring up of some diseases. (2000 NOK)

- Communication - Internet / Phone (to keep in touch with the people following my journey and family) (1000 NOK)

- Unforeseeable expenses / reserve funds / Security . (10000 NOK)

Totally i budget 30000 NOK or 3000 Euros.

At the end of my mission, I will donate all unused funds to SOS, should I not return to Syria on following missions (Should I be injured f.ex.).

When possible, I will also post about my efforts in Syria on my social media pages.

SOS posts daily about their work and efforts in Syria through their social media, and trough that my efforts can be followed too.

This decision has not been easy!
I am ready to take the risk for all those who want to help but aren't able to.

Helping me get there, through your donations is a small drop ... in a big ocean of need... But drop by drop, we can make this world better, one step at a time.

This is my first step, helping me and SOS help others, could be your first step!

Feel free to contact me for any relevant questions you may have!

NB: I will be traveling in respect of international humanitarian law, providing disaster relief and humanitarian assistance in accordance with international conventions and UN charters on human rights.
