Help me earn volunteer hours for Dental school!
My Travel Story
In the summer of 2026, I plan on teaching at an English school for the lower-income families of Xi'an China as a volunteer. I will be working for two weeks, while also earning required volunteer hours for my upcoming plans to apply for dental school. There are only 66 dental schools in the US, And only 11,000 students are accepted each year. That is less than 50% of applicants. To make myself stand out, not only is my academic profile important, but so is my leadership and volunteer hours. Volunteering abroad will increase my scope of volunteering and also stand me out from other applicants.
For those that don't know, I am currently a freshman at GCU, majoring in biology with an emphasis in pre-dental. I have been working full time as a dental assistant for the past five years, where I have excelled in my career and pushed boundaries. I am also a single mom to a two year old. While I go to school full time, I am also working part time to support myself and my son. I am on track to graduate with my BS in biology in December 2027, and my dental school applications are due the year prior. I have over 10,200 hours of hands-on experience in the dental field, 6 certifications, and over 200 hours of continuing education credits. I also have 20 hours of volunteer work, but a minimum of 150 is required.
All funds received in this fundraiser will cover the cost for accommodations and meals, which will be provided by my volunteer program, my passport, visa, and round trip flight.
If for some reason I cannot go, or I do not raise enough funds to go, all proceeds will be directly refunded back to the donator.
