My Travel Story

Friends and family, I've been accepted to a brief study abroad program this summer!  This is a huge deal to me because I've never really been in a position where this was possible (financially, professionally, work, or family wise).

I studied Spanish for 8 years but eventually stopped pursuing my dream of teaching it when I realized that most of my peers had travelled abroad multiple times and benefited from the immersion. I felt incredibly disheartened and never really practiced after that. I'm determined to restore my Spanish speaking skills and utilize them in my career. Help me become a bilingual Social Worker!

I'm not about to pass this opportunity up - one way or the other, I'm going to Costa Rica with Portland State University faculty and students. If you'd like to contribute to my adventure, please do so! I'll bring back a souvenir for anyone who contributes triple digit help and gladly talk the ear off of anyone who donates more than a penny upon my return.

    I'm about 48% of the way funded thanks to my very generous loved ones and the small amount of federal loans that were designated for my Summer term!
    I'm practicing my Spanish daily and have yet to reach a place that doesn't feel like review so that's pretty encouraging!
    Keeping an eye on those flight prices and of course trying to survive Spring term classes and work while prepping. 81 days!!
