Have you noticed how divorce rates keep rising while fewer people are choosing to marry? In the U.S., nearly 60% of marriages end in divorce a heartbreaking trend that reflects deeper struggles with commitment, communication, and resilience. But what if we could change that?

Hi I am Mya Simmons and I am a PhD student at Capella University for Psychology. Here I’m taking radical accountability for my future marriage by embarking on a transformative journey not just for myself, but for the relationships I’ll inspire. After confronting my fears about marriage with a shaman, I received powerful advice: Travel solo. Face the unknown. Learn to adapt and become flexible; because partnerships of any kind requires “give and take”.

Marriage, like travel, is full of unexpected turns. By immersing myself in unfamiliar cultures, navigating language barriers, embracing different values, and problem solving on my own, I’ll cultivate the patience, empathy, and resilience every lasting partnership requires. This isn’t just a trip; it’s premarital training!
