My Travel Story

I'm Carole, I'm 40, and I'm a senior psychology major at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. An amazing opportunity fell into my lap (my ULM email) to study abroad in Europe this summer semester. I will be earning credits towards my degree at ULM. But more importantly, I will be getting out of my comfort zone and meeting new people. I will be gaining new perspectives and growing as a person. It will also be my first ever time on a plane. A narcoleptic since childhood, many normal life events and developments have come later for me. This is such a huge deal to me, I cannot even begin to describe. Before last week, such things were not even on my radar. Financially, I'm struggling with how to pay for it all. The five weeks I'm gone I will miss at least two paychecks. I realize it's short notice, but any assistance is greatly appreciated. Even if you just pray for me, I will be thankful for that.

    Hello. I’ve secured a loan for my program fees, booked my flights, and applied for my passport. By the way, while it will be amazing, this is not a vacation. We will have class from 9:30am until 2 (minus lunch break) everyday except Saturday. We are staying in hostels, which are like dorms. We will have writing assignments all along and we will be walking a lot. I would appreciate any help I can get with subway fares, food, other transportation, traveling necessities, and other incidentals.
