My Travel Story

I began my journey of travel and life for wildlife in 2021 when I graduated from Boise State University with a Degree in Anthropology, and Certificates in Environmental Studies, Communication, and American Sign Language. I found my calling 2 years later when I traveled to Namibia where I traversed the entire country learning about the local tribes, environment, and animals.
By studying wildlife and conservation in South Africa, I plan to contribute to efforts that protect endangered species and support sustainable land management practices. I’ll engage with local communities, wildlife rangers, and conservation organizations to help raise awareness of the importance of preserving biodiversity. By sharing what I learn, I can empower others to become involved in conservation, both locally and globally.
I’ve always been deeply connected to nature and animals, and conservation has become my life's calling. The opportunity to study wildlife in South Africa, one of the most biodiverse places on Earth, excites me because it allows me to directly contribute to protecting the creatures and ecosystems that I’ve long admired. I’m passionate about being part of a movement that fights to preserve our planet for future generations.
South Africa is a global hub for wildlife conservation, with diverse ecosystems ranging from savannas to wetlands and mountain ranges. The country is home to some of the world’s most iconic species, like elephants, lions, and rhinos, many of which are under threat. Studying there allows me to gain firsthand experience in real-world conservation efforts while also exploring Africa’s rich cultural and environmental heritage.
This trip represents a dream come true — the chance to merge my love for wildlife with my desire to make a meaningful, positive impact on the environment. The work I’ll do with Bushwise will equip me with the tools, knowledge, and experience to pursue a career in conservation, and the knowledge I gain will not only benefit my career but will help me inspire others to protect wildlife as well. It's an opportunity to grow personally, professionally, and to contribute to the planet’s well-being.
