My Travel Story

Hello, my name is Collette.  I am a junior in high school and the oldest of 4 children.  My brothers are 8, 7 and 5 currently.  I have been dreaming of being able to visit Paris, France since I was in the fourth grade and my family was able to host an exchange student from France for 3 weeks as part of a school exchange program.  Unfortunately, my family did not have the money to let participate in the portion of the trip where my school visited France.  Money was extra tight, as my two oldest brothers were very young and my mom was pregnant with my youngest brother.

This year my school will taking a 12 day trip to France and Italy through EF Tours.  I hoped that I could go, but realistically I didn’t think I would be able to go due to monetary concerns.  However, my parents signed me up to go and said they would do whatever they can to get the money so I could go.  I am hoping to be able to visit with the student we hosted, as we have kept in touch over the years.  I never could have imagined even having the chance to ever visit her.

However, I know that they are struggling to come up with the money to be able to afford to let participate.  I have even just got my first job at a Taco Bell (I start training in the beginning of November) in order to try to help pay for some of the trip.  I don’t know how many hours I will be able to work through with school and extracurricular activities.

There has only been a few organized fund raising opportunities so far, and I don’t that many more are planned. The trip organizer informed me of this site as part of some fund raising options to try to raise more money so I can go.

I have signed up to try to help raise enough money that my parents don’t have to struggle to pay for this trip for me, and so that we hopefully do not end up short of the money need for me to go.
