My Travel Story

by: Mark Cutting Start Date: Mar 8, 2020 - End Date: Mar 7, 2021
The purpose of this volunteering project is to provide a safe haven for orphaned or injured animals that would otherwise not be able to survive on their own.

I am very passionate about this project because the animals they help have gotten the sharp end of the stick from the time they were born. This project allows these animals to live out the rest of their lives in peace in a beautiful part of the world.

Volunteers within this project work with the permanent employees to help build/repair fences, feed the animals and to create enrichment objects (toys) for them to stimulate their brains.

This project means a lot to me because I have loved any and all animals since I was a small child. As I grew older I became aware of the cruelty that animals are made to face at the hands of humans for human "enjoyment". It took me a few years to realise what I wanted to do with the rest of my life but I have come to a realisation that I want to make the world a better place for it's animal inhabitants.

This project does just that by working to help injured and orphaned african animals and giving them a sanctuary in which they can live peacefully. Thus giving them a home and carefree environment to live out there amazing lives.  I cannot think of anything more noble to work.

That is the reason and motivation for volunteering at this animal sanctuary in South Africa.
