My Travel Story

Traveling to South Africa has long been a dream of mine. I will be volunteering in a childcare program in Cape Town for two weeks, and my goal is to make a difference in the lives of these children.
I will be caring for and educating children from disadvantaged backgrounds. I will be placed in day care centers with children from poor backgrounds and broken homes. Some of the children have lost their parents to crime, alcohol or drug abuse, and HIV/ AIDS, forcing them to live with their relatives or neighbors, who often do not have the means to take proper care of them. In addition to teaching and caring for these children, I will also be involved in organizing games and activities, and helping with general duties of the center.                 
My life aim is to become a pediatric nurse because I believe that children are our future and that they need to be cared for and loved! This is a project that I am passionate about in and hope to return to. My goal after graduating from nursing school is to travel and give back. I am really grateful and lucky for the life I have, and the least I can do is give back and help others.
