My Travel Story

by: Emily Goblirsch Start Date: Sep 29, 2019 - End Date: Jun 11, 2020
Hello! My name is Emily and I am a sophomore attending Barrett, the Honors College, ASU. I am currently studying psychology and neuroscience and plan on entering graduate school to continue my personal and academic growth in the field. I am currently working as a research assistant for a social psychology lab on campus, and work three jobs to pay for my school and residency fees on top of being a full-time student.
I am very interested in a program opportunity through Barrett involving the study abroad trip for Germany and Switzerland in the summer of 2020. This program majorly details the book Frankenstein, written by Mary Shelley, by providing the experience to visit many of the locations referenced in the classical literature piece.
Since about 4 years ago, I have loved this book entirely. The duality of the "monster" and the complex feelings of his creator, Frankenstein, make this story so rich and interesting. This course specifically tailors events and readings related to Mary Shelley's book, and would count as Honors credit towards my degree.
Related to my social psychology pursuits, this study abroad opportunity will allow me to witness the social interactions of different cultures and demographics, all the while studying readings related to human interactions and creation.
